Meco was contracted by Allterrain Contracting Inc. to undertake a geotechnical investigation to determine existing soil conditions and to develop a parking lot layout. The purpose of the geotechnical investigation was to determine the potential causes of a large scale slop failure and to provide options for its mitigation. Developing the parking lot consisted of site grading to balance cut and fill quantities, provide suitable access from Acadia Street to the site, and to develop a stormwater management system to be able to control the discharge of surface runoff into the HRM storm sewer without surcharging the existing system.
