Meco was contracted by the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide three conceptual designs for replacement blast walls at CFAD Bedford; an anchored, cantilever and geotextile options. Meco was later contracted to provide full civil design for the preferred option.
Final design consisted of three geotextile wrapped earthen barricades and an interior blastwall of reinforced concrete. All walls were designed to resist blast wave and fragment loading. Final design package included drawings, cost estimates, specifications and tender documents. Meco received the honorable mention award from the NS Lt. Governors for Excellence in Engineering for the design.
